About

Just because I said it, doesn't mean that I am right, or even that I meant it.

The author(s) at It is what it is ... are unabashedly skeptical about our collective ability to solve the mysteries of life. This does not mean that we know or learn nothing. Instead it means we should be far more cautious before declaring any special interest conclusions to be the only correct ones.

That being said, we are looking for hidden assumptions and false logic. Contribute your views as you will (outspoken and to the point is fine, but unnecessary rudeness is banned - and we decide which is which).

  1. I'm fine with proceeding on the basis of logic and scientific evidence. The only quibble I have is the concept of "right". The only purpose I can think of to subsume my belief to align it with others is to effect change through the power of numbers. It strikes me that if I have certitude I have no need of a clamoring mob or an effete oligarchy of politicians.

Of course, I have trouble with the concept of a singledefinition of "right".

  2. adrift: Right. The problem with losing that sense of independence by the adoption of a specific label is just that - pressure increases to defend the label rather than to remain independent in one's examination of the logic and evidence.
